It’s no secret that I’ve spent the last few months daydreaming about reading on a beach somewhere. The sparkling water spread out before me as I soak up the sun and drink mimosas… but here I am in foggy San Francisco wearing shorts to convince summer that it is indeed July. But I can’t complain, I’ll be roasted by the Florida heat in exactly seven days and I’ll be longing for the crisp wind that is currently blowing through the courtyard at my office.
As I sit here watching the rain, I’m thinking back on my extremely eventful weekend. It consisted of a quick one-night adventure to Tahoe, a night out at the Bridgerton immersive experience, a morning of acrobatics, and a day at the ballpark for a Giants vs. Cubs game. I, of course, had a blast and I’m so grateful to be able to be young in San Francisco and go on all of these adventures… but can we just take a moment to normalize that not only is it exhausting to work five days a week, workout, commute, make yourself breakfast lunch and dinner and then do fun things with your friends and family on top of that?
Whenever I have a weekend like this, I can’t help but think about how I choose to share those experiences with the world. Did I post on Instagram? Am I being authentic with what a typical weekend looks like for me? Have I ever heard someone share their eventful weekend and felt bad for not being as fun or having as much energy? Do I ever feel bad about not writing in my journal or writing a blog post because I feel like I haven’t done anything of note? (The answer is 100% yes) So on a Monday like this, it’s a good reminder that not every weekend can be jam packed. Sometimes the best weekends are ones after the eventful ones. The ones where you make a coffee only to crawl back into bed and take a nice long nap.
All that being said, the Bridgerton experience was SO much fun, I’d definitely recommend it! It was the perfect combination of entertainment, dancing, ball gowns and themed drinks. Part of what made it so special was that everyone dressed up in keeping with the theme so when we got there it literally felt like walking into an episode of the TV show. The experience wasn’t long (it was about an hour an a half) but it’s definitely a fun night out and a good reason to step into a ball gown!
In case you need to hear it today: You work hard. You’re doing your best. You’re not a failure because you don’t have that perfect backlit picture of yourself doing the aforementioned fun things you do in your free time. Just because that girl who wasn’t very nice to you in high school doesn’t like your perfectly filtered Instagram picture doesn’t mean that you did not in fact, have one of the best weekends of your life. Here are my not-so-perfect pictures of my weekend:

Sending you a healthy helping of self-love and smiles this Monday morning!
